  1. That's a tough one. You have to pick someone with LOTS of songs that have titles that aren't complicated.

  2. Hi, Jeffrey!

Well done, good buddy! This is quite a coincidence because, last evening, my CD player (set to shuffle play) selected Huey's hit "The Power of Love" and I woke up this morning with the song running through my noggin. Who could forget the great music and music videos made by Huey Lewis and the News? Not I.

Thanks for taking the Musical Challenge, good buddy!

    1. Yes, reading everyone's entries has been really cool.
So true, we learn so little about our fellow bloggers.

  5. Nicely done, JEFFY!
Huey Lewis is one of the few '80s artists that I do kind of like. My best girlfriend, the "Countess", was a major Huey Lewis fan and she turned me onto them. I never totally embraced that band, but of course they were really an "'80s" group, and I pretty much (as you know) hate most of the 1980s Rock/Pop music. It was just so damned artificial (even if Arlee Bird could brainwash "hisself" into believing, by repeated listening, that it had some musical merit).

However, "The Countess" was a wonderful soul. (I should have married her.) And The Countess convinced me to accompany her to a Huey Lewis concert at 'The House Of Blues' on the Sunset Strip in Hollyweird, Californicated.

They were pretty damned good. Not great - not better'n WAYLON JENNINGS - but pretty damned good. I had an increased appreciation of Huey's band after that concert.

Truth is though, I already knew Huey had some musical chops when I saw way-back-when that he played harmonica on the live double-album THIN LIZZY record, circa 1977.

Thanks to "The Countess", on our Northern California road trip, we went into the bar featured on the album cover of the 'SPORTS' lp. This was circa 1990, and the pictures on the wall were almost identical to how they appeared on the 'SPORTS' album cover. I thought that was really cool to see, even though I'd spent many years interacting with Hollywood stars on Hollywood sets. Music beats movies, IMO.

BTW, my favorite Huey Lewis song is this one...

Man, I can TOTALLY relate to that song!

    1. Yea, that's a great song.
I've gone to see Huey in concert at least three, if not four times.
He always puts on a good show.

    2. I have to admit I clicked over to see what song Mr. McCarthy could "totally relate to" expecting to see I WANT A NEW DRUG. Alas, that wasn't it. But it wasn't "bad."

  6. The Pineapple Express is a neat title for a mode of transportation. Its such a cool name really, I wonder which was first the movie or the transportation?

    1. I wonder if that would be Spongebob's favourite transportation too.
      Yes, it's a cool name.

  7. Great post, Jeffrey! ☺ Thanks for joining in. I added your link to the list. Huey had some good tunes and I'll always associate him with "Back to the Future". That's too bad about not finding a girl. Can't imagine going through life with a name like "Bobo Tempo". I didn't know that one and checked it out on Youtube . Good reggae beat!

    1. Yes, I actually like the sound of that Huey song. This is probably a well known trivia question, but did you see the Huey Lewis guest appearance in Back to the Future? He was the teacher that told Marty he was 'too dang loud'. LOL
I still get a kick out of that every time I watch the film.
It was a great game to play.

  9. I loved Huey back in the day, and this is an awesome post! Ironically, I love music, but unless I'm watching Jeopardy, I havde trouble remembering any songs at all. (lol) Hugs...RO

    1. Music is great. I have a hard time remembering certain members of bands. Unless it's a main singer. I try hard, but I forget too. Thanks for stopping by.

  10. I clicked over here expecting to the Music & Words Award blog. I read that a few days ago after composing my own. I got to the end of yours only to realize I left the last question off my own. That created a panic, so I rushed back to my blog to fix the error. I fully intended to run right back over here, but something happened. So, after I leave this one, I'm going back one to give you a delayed comment there.

This is a super fun list. I've been working on mine, but haven't posted it yet.

Huey Lewis is one of the few bands that my ex and I both liked a lot. So, Huey got a lot of play when we were on the road. (The other was Hall & Oates. After that our musical tastes radically diverged.) We saw them in concert in 2003 or 2004. I can't remember. It was an amazing concert. Just fantastic. I'm still hugely partial to Huey's song IF THIS IS IT, which I've loved since it came out, but I really like all of your answers, too.

One of my favorite songs to karaoke is HIP TO BE SQUARE. I like my bands in business suits!

    1. Hall and Oates are another great band I like.
Hip to be Square is a great song. I like the video for If This Is It.
Most of his videos are worth watching at least once.
Remember, 'Doing It All For My Baby?' that was a funny video too.

  11. Huey Lewis is an artist I never listened to much--never owned any of his albums. Not that he's bad or anything. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that you used this artist--either him or Diane Krall I guess.

I'd definitely watch a TV show called "Who Cares?"

Both our answers for what we first purchased are also nearly identical. So hilarious.
