I.W.S.G. (8) - Thank You To All Who Encourage Me

Short and sweet this month because of all the activity going on in the A to Z challenge hundreds of bloggers are participating in this month.

I want to take the time to give a big, BIG thank you to all those who have come to support and encourage me. It means a lot to me. I finally came to the decision yesterday to stop posting blog updates to my facebook page. There really isn't any interest from my friends and family except an occasion 'like'. But my fellow bloggers are truly supportive and I great appreciate that. I appreciate each and every one of you! You are the best! Have a great April!

My Goals:

Old Goals:
1.) Find test readers for my story.
I have one niece who was looking to make some money so I offered to give her some funds in exchange for reading and making some notes on my YA short story. It's targeted for her age. I have another niece I may do the same thing for. I also plan on finding a site where true authors exchange stories and beta read for each other. But that'll be after next month.

2.) Prep a few entries for the A to Z challenge I'm engaged in this month.
I'm happy to report I finished all 26 days of the challenge and have them prepped and ready to go. Now comes the task of visiting others and giving support and encouragement to them in this challenge.

New Goal:
May I aim to go blogger lite and concentrate on finishing the third story in my Writers Block series. I want to have it all done, or mostly all done by the end of May.

My Encouragement:
Don't worry, be happy. (Sorry if I get that song stuck in your head now. Forget, and just be happy.)

Questions to ponder:
Are you engaged in the A to Z challenge?
Do you receive any support from friends or family?
Has there ever been a song that has stuck in your head all day?

The Insecure Writer's Support Group posts the first Wednesday of every month. Please follow along as my fellow writers and I relate why we feel insecure, or read as we help encourage others suffering from insecurity.

Are you an insecure writer? Why not join the group? Find out more information via the group HERE.

The site is founded by Alex J. Cavanaugh - Thanks for all the support!

  1. The best thing I ever did was start a blog because the people here are incredibly supportive.
If you're part of the IWSG Facebook group, post there that you are looking for beta readers and I'm sure you'll get a lot of offers.

    1. I am there, and I should probably visit more often.
I will be doing so starting next month. This month is too crazy for me to undertake that.
      Thanks for the suggestion.

  2. The great thing about IWSG is that we encourage each other. Sometimes encouragement is all we need. :)

    1. Encouragement is bucket-loads of help. For certain!

  3. I am doing the A to Z challenge! I'm actually keeping up with it pretty well, although I'm not ahead, and I don't have any pre-scheduled posts, yet.

I wouldn't say my family and friends are unsupportive, but they just don't really get it.

I went through one horrible period where Alligator Rock would be the first thing playing when I got to work, and the last thing that played right before I left. I could NOT get that song out of my head.

    1. Alligator Rock. An earworm for sure.
I appreciate the visit. I tried to find your blog space but I was unable. Your link takes me to a google+ account that doesn't show me any posts.

  4. The IWSG group is awesome! (And I'm not just saying that because I'm co-hosting this month.) Other than my husband, my biggest source of encouragement and support come from fellow bloggers and readers.

    1. For me, the only source of encouragement and support comes from IWSG and other bloggers.

  5. I havent told anyone but one friend that I was participating in the challenge and she thought I was crazy with my move. I didn't even tell my husband. I am also so appreciative of the support from my blog comments and visits. Good luck on finishing your book.

    1. Thanks good luck on your move!
I can only imagine what your husband would think of the challenge despite the move. LOL

  6. I don't seem to get a lot of buzz on my Facebook either. Maybe I'm just really bad at Facebook.

Are you engaged in the A to Z challenge? - So much I think I need a little break!

Do you receive any support from friends or family? - Yes, but it seems like more like a polite interest from most people (except a few). That's okay though, I write for my readers.

Has there ever been a song that has stuck in your head all day? - Only every freakin' day!

    1. I agree with you. If I do get support, it seems to be a polite interest. Or just checking up on what I'm doing, no real interest. Like you, I write because I enjoy it and for those who actually stop by and read what I write. So really, I should be happy with that.

  7. I knew all those shows in your E post! Boy, I watched a lot of TV. Good luck going blogger lite next month. After today, that's what I'm doing this month. :)

    1. Enjoy your blogger lite.
I love how those of us love blogging so much, we can't even step away from it for even 30 full days. It's always, "Well, I will be doing one post" Or something like that. LOL

  8. I've got "White & Nerdy" in my head now:) It's always great to get support since that is a big motivator.

  9. Support of some kind is essential for every writer's self-esteem. Much as we write for ourselves, there's always the need for acceptance, acknowledgement. I'm glad you've found it blogging and joining IWSG;-)
    I'm glad I did too.
I have no idea why, but a line from a song has been popping into my head for over a week now "and she's always gone too long anytime she goes away..." I don't recall even hearing the song in the last few years!

    1. I cant' seem to recall which song that is. Which may be good, or it would likely be rattling around in my head.

  10. I love being part of IWSG for the encouragement. Good luck with A-Z and finishing your story.

  11. My two cents: don't pay someone to beta read for you. In fact, I'm beginning to think it's a good idea to just give someone the first chapter to gauge their interest. That first chapter is crucial and will be the one you do the most work on. When you get people begging for that second chapter, you've finally gotten it right.

    1. Normally, I wouldn't pay someone, but being my niece and her wanting to make money, I suggested it. If it were anyone else, I would not have asked.
But, I like your idea of just handing the first chapter.
