R.a.n.t. of week 06/21/15
Yes, it's that time again. The sun is out and people are returning to the outdoors. Unfortunately, it also means they are brining their trash. And where does the trash go? Well, if you look at the security still from our office camera, you'll notice it doesn't go in the trash bin ten feet away. No, that would be too difficult and require a minimum of patience and integrity. Better just throw the trash on the ground, as this dude did when discarding his trash.
There are times I see garbage laying around and I think to myself, 'how did they not notice their garbage get away from them?' Or 'why did they not pick it up'? But I guess I've been giving people too much credit. Until I happened to notice this scene on our security camera at work. Not more than ten feet away from garbage bins, he lets his refuse drop to the ground. I'm sorry, I'm just having trouble trying to process this. Can anyone explain this to me? How can someone be so thoughtless and nonchalant. Have people no pride? If not pride in their neighbourhood, pride in themselves?
The answer is that you would be shocked at how little pride people have in themselves. In anything. If the guy dropping the trash didn't convince you, check out most any public restroom. It's excellent imagery for the State of the Union.
ReplyDeleteIt's crappy. Really crappy.
Well, I do understand people are actually like this. It's just so hard to understand.
DeleteI never drop trash on the ground. I would like to pick up after litterbugs, but I'd need to carry disposable gloves and a grabber and sanitizer for my entire body.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
I'm the same way. If I had my wish, the trash they throw on the ground will transport under the covers in their bed at night. Yea, I know. I'm weird.
DeleteI happen to like weird. Maybe it's because I'm weird. Soy una perdedo.
DeletePeople are thoughtless idiots sometimes. Like the people that leave their shopping carts not ten feet from the corral. Hey, there's a new rant for you!
ReplyDeleteYes, those people annoy me too. So lazy. I see this a lot too. People taking the shopping carts out of the shopping area, walking them home, then leaving them on the side of the road.
DeleteI hate it when people litter. I recently watched someone stop in front of my house and toss something out the window and then drive away very slow. I was so mad that I marched outside, down my driveway, into the road, picked up what they had threw out their window, and waved it in the air after them. I don't know if they looked in the rear view mirror or not, but I hope they did!
ReplyDeleteI second Alex in also hating the people who leave there carts close to the corral and in parking spaces so you have to get out and move it or find another spot.
Wow, you are so like me Chrys. That's exactly the kind of passive aggressive thing I would do. I was actually about to get up out of my seat when I saw him toss that down and then open the back door and yell out to him that he dropped something by "mistake". But I've done that sort of thing before and no they just shrug their shoulders and carry on, not caring.
DeleteHAHAHA! I really don't know why I snapped like that. Maybe it was because I just moved to this house and it felt like this person did it deliberately. Ugh! That's annoying! I don't know why people have to be so rude and act as if they did nothing wrong.
DeleteLast year for Earth Day, I actually walked up and down my road (I lived at an apartment then) and picked up all the trash I saw. I had on gloves and a big garbage bag. People looked at me from their cars as though I was crazy, but I felt good about it.
They probably wondered where your orange jump-suit was. Because those of us not doing community service obviously have no pride in our neighbourhoods.
