My Hero; Ultra-Boy

R.a.n.t. for month of December 2016
As I was growing up, my favourite comic book was Legion of Super Heroes. One of the best heroes was names Ultra-Boy. He had many interesting powers: flight, speed, vision, invulnerability, strength. Kind of like Superman. But what set this character apart from Superman was his inability to use more than one power at a time. Superman was always boring to me because there wasn't much he couldn't do. Ultra-Boy on the other hand, had to be creative, especially if he needed to use two different powers. Imagine a super power juggling act. If he were to discover a bomb about to go off, he could deal with it in several ways. He could grab the bomb, fly off with it into the air, quickly switch to invulnerability as the bomb went off, then switch back to flying so he wouldn't fall back to Earth. Or he could simply pick the bomb up and throw it away with super strength into space.

But I don't have super powers. That's not the way I seem to be like Ultra-Boy lately. Lately, it seems I can only concentrate on one thing at a time. I have many interests, as regular readers are well aware. I'm a writer and photographer who also enjoys learning a second language, blogging and gaming. But I tend to do only one at a time. When I'm into my blogging, I rarely do much writing (yes the two are vastly different). My photography and language skills also tend to fall by the way-side. I don't mean, I try to do more than one thing at one time, I'm pretty much talking about within a set time frame. Let's say, weeks or months. Well, now I've got a new distraction. For the past few months, I've been trying to lose weight. Depression is something I battle with and many many times I turn to comfort food. I've been cutting out almost all forms of junk-food and walking a 5K two to three time a week. I'm proud to say I've been very successful so far. In the span of 5 weeks, I've lost 20 pounds. And yet, I have so much more to go.

So, to my readers I must say this. Please bear with me. I know at times I get behind in visiting my blogging buddies, and bad at commenting, but I'm working on one thing and finding it difficult to manage doing the other things I love. Don't worry, I'll get to it. Like my hero Ultra-Boy, I just need to learn to be more creative. I just need to learn to juggle better. Perhaps my blogging colleague, Arlee could give me a few pointers?

Some questions for discussion.
What super hero can you identify yourself as?
If you could pick one super power, what would it be?
Have you / Do you read comic books? If so, what is your favourite title(s)?
Have you ever felt too lazy to work on a favourite projects? How do you handle this?
Do you do 5k's or half or full marathons?

Please note:
My next Battle of the Bands will be December 15th

Time Travel Museum

November 5th, 1955 is the date time travel was invented. And yet scientists have recently discovered time travel has been with us for a long time. One piece of evidence can be found HERE.

These time travel devices come in many shapes and sizes. Each have their own special abilities. Would you like to learn more about the technology and science of Time Travel? Then good news!

The European Time Travel Institute (TETTI) is finishing construction on their Time Travel Museum. Scheduled to be open to the public fall of 2017.

Several scientists have already been scheduled to field Q&A session and offer brief demonstrations.
Best of all, the museum will be filled with displays of all Time Travel machines; both real and ones featured in films.

Examples of a few of the displays follow:

Jeffrey Scott's Coffee Klatch - 2

When I did my traveling of last year, I feared something was going to happen. I had this realization I was likely going to develop the travel bug. Not surprising, it has hit me and I'm desperately trying to decide where I want to go next. Last year I was in Mexico, London and Paris. How do you top that? I likely won't get as much travel in this year, but would still like to go somewhere decent. This year my problem is I'd like to take my kids somewhere but overseas is out of the question. Most likely it'll be somewhere fairly close, like Mall of America, as we did last year. But I don't want to repeat that. So now I must think of somewhere cool to take the kids, and at the same time plan a trip for myself. You'd think traveling would be boring, but I rather enjoyed it. Where have you traveled alone?

In lieu of an interview this week I've decided to do a game review.

Not sure if there are any other game players in my audience, but I do enjoy my games from time to time, why else would I have purchased the PS3? Oh, that's right; the Blue-Ray player. Seriously though, I used to be addicted to games, especially online games. Anyone remember Evercrack? Oops, I meant Everquest. Fortunately I'm much older and have more important things like my writing to keep me busy. But I'm digressing, on to the game review.

If you love creating your own personalized character, you'll love this game. If you love interacting with other characters in the DC Universe, you'll love this game. If you like to play as a villain, you'll love this game. The character creating is great and lots of choices are available such as powers, and movement type. I am slightly (this is a very slight complaint) disappointed in the outfits available. Don't get me wrong, there are many, just not as many as I'd have liked. Of course, if you have a particular hero you'd like to pattern yourself after you have that option. Or if none are available, and you are creative enough you can do so yourself. As a big time Legion of Super Hero fan, I've created a Brainiac 5 and Sun Boy characters. Possibly more on the way, I enjoy creating characters as much as I enjoy playing the game.

Once you finally get into the game, you'll be given various missions from the heroes and villains of the game. As can be expected, the more missions you go on, the more experience you get, the higher in level you become. There are options for joining with others in a group or creating a League. If you love super heroes, online games or the DC Universe I'd highly suggest playing the game.
