Walk On By

Standing here with such good news,
Why would anyone dare refuse?
Just because we try to preach,
you scoff and resent what we teach.
I see you as you walk on by,
looking down or into the sky.
You ignore us as you walk away,
averting eyes from the display.
Some may wish that we were dead,
but other Witnesses would be here instead.
We try to show a better life,
be a better child, husband or wife.
Yes, all of us are badly flawed,
So read the council from Jehovah God.
You would learn if you took a look,
what's really taught in each bible book.
If with this worlds pain you disagree,
then go on, take one. Yes, they're free.
You can learn to, on God rely.
Or will you simply, walk on by?

Learning a Foreign Language

R.a.n.t. of week 10/27/13

Learning a foreign language is something I've always wanted to do. As far back as High School, I wanted to learn German. (Another RANT that discussed this can be found: HERE) The problem with trying to learn a language no one around you speaks, is it's hard to stick to and be dedicate to. So learning German outside of school didn't last long. Truth be told, it didn't last much while I was still in school. However, lately I've been attempting another language, this time there are others around me who also speak the language. So I automatically have a plus when it comes to learning it. An additional advantage is learning the language for a good reason. Had I learned German, it would have been neat to know, but there would have been no real call for it. This time, as I learn the foreign language, I can hopefully use what I have learned to help teach others the bible. Those who truly know me, know how important this is to me. But this wouldn't be a proper r.a.n.t. without something to complain about, would it?

Unlike German, the 'Karen' language I'm learning has it's own characters. So before I could even begin to start learning the language, I had to learn to read the characters. But that isn't even the hard part. The hard part has come after that. As you will have noticed, I'm a writer and I love to write. As a writer, I am fairly adept at the English language and have many, many words at my disposal. Depending on how I want to write something, I can vary the words I utilize to give different connotations. What does that have to do with anything? Well, learning a new language is a very humbling experience. (See last weeks r.a.n.t. on how humble I claim to be). Essentially, I'm starting from scratch and anything I want to say in the language is very simple. As I strive to learn, I know I will stumble, I will say silly things, I will be corrected or criticized, I will get frustrated, I may even get teased. But no one said learning a language was going to be easy. That's all good though, you can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs.

The Day Will Come

The day will come
we all are young,
we will not die
from older age.

We will be happy,
full of joy.
No longer deal
with acts of rage.

The day will come
we will not cry,
or mourn a loved one
asleep in death.

The former things
will have passed away.
No sickness, pain
or troubled breath.

The day will come
I'll smile again.
The day will come,
but not today.

Safeguard Your Conscience

We must safeguard the conscience,
our 'inner voice'.
To avoid hazards and help
make the wisest choice.

Because if our faith
we do not check,
Our conscience experiences
emotional shipwreck.

It can be very simple,
our conscience to maintain.
Like all our theocratic goals
we must strive to train.

It's not something we do on our own,
we rely on Jehovah for the prep.
Cause man cant direct the way he walks,
not even one step.

You might not think ‘cause our past,
we doubt ourselves now and then.
But there is a way for us to be
clear from the blood of all men.

We must declare from house to house,
preaching all abroad.
Bearing witness, hold nothing back
all the counsel of our God.

So is your conscience bible guided?
Following principles of Godly worth?
Or do you want God as an enemy?
Then constitute friendship with this Earth.

If within our inner voice,
is something we don’t mind,
We still must avoid to wound
a neighbors conscience not inclined.

Would we want to risk offending
the spiritually weak?
Stumbling their faith,
giving an outlook that’s bleak?

How do we bear up,
our conscience to save?
When tempted by the world,
grievous things to crave?

We must quit being fashioned,
seeking this system’s respect.
And prove the will of our God,
which is acceptable and perfect.

If you call for understanding,
If Jehovah you truly laud.
If you seek as for silver or hid treasure,
You will find the knowledge of our God.

So let us follow our conscience,
keeping it spirit directed.
Then blessings will come from Jehovah,
and we will never be rejected.

Grassy Fields

Industrial buildings

made of brick,

soon forgotten

rather quick.

Lasts for maybe

fifty years,

then nothing left

'cept souvenirs.

A concrete field

within the valley,

laying dormant

till world's finale.

* * * * *

No more smoke stacks

will there be,

just old decrepit

factory debris.

I long for the time

with no more tears,

though working hard

for a thousand years.

Then we'll produce

full Earthy yields

and restore God's

beautiful grassy fields.

Safeguard Your Mind

If we rely on just our thought,
the thinking process won't be kind.
For mental keenness in our life,
we love Jehovah with whole mind.

And help, we must, our fellow man,
when mind is blinded by a veil.
Reasoning from the scriptures,
showing proof. It will never fail.

With this knowledge we then have,
how do we show our gratitude?
Amongst ourselves it's paramount,
to have a Christlike attitude.

Reading we know, is not enough.
Meditation is essential.
As we ponder, become absorbed,
advancement reaches full potential.

Let us allow Jehovah God,
to mold our minds, our every thought.
With things serious, righteous, chaste,
the pleasing things that God has taught.

This we do within the family,
husbands, wives and children too.
We can not know the mind of God,
but the mind of Christ we can pursue.

What sort of person ought you to be?
If ready for Jehovah's day?
Keep it close, so close in mind,
it really is the only way.

So let's brace up our minds,
to combat negativity.
Prepared to endure trials,
we pursue theocratic activity.

If we apply what we have learned,
and give it continued review.
We please the God of true Peace
and he will always be with you.

From the Heart

Everyone yearns for protection.
So what’s the key before we start?
To protect ourselves completely,
we must first safeguard our heart.

Don’t let yourself be led astray,
with dangers lurking all around.
If not careful, cunningness
and apathy are also found.

Our true intentions we can see,
as we look into that mirror.
But so we do not soon forget,
the perfect law, we all must peer.

Prepare your heart, yes every one.
With prayer, study and our friends.
To endure such dangers we can face,
the persecution Satan sends.

And if we feel we’re broken down,
our heart despondently behaves.
Always remember Jehovah’s near,
and those crushed in spirit he saves.

Many examples we have to follow
and so many to be found.
Hannah, Mary, Elijah, Peter,
and many more abound.

Though many things will happen soon,
we know they have been verified.
Once again safeguard your heart,
so we’ll never become terrified.

Goodbye My Friend

Just heard that you have passed away,
the sadness breaks my heart.
But memories will never die
your loved ones keep that part.

I’ll always remember the faith you shared,
your boldness and your tact.
You did whatever you could do
to teach the Kingdom Fact.

We have been friends for many years,
and why I am so sad.
I missed the chance to say goodbye,
oh how I wish I had.

I know that there will come a time,
for us to talk again.
Your friends and family know it’s true,
we just do not know when.

You are asleep, so you will wake,
and we’ll all be on the mend.
Till then, all I can say:
Goodbye my friend.
